Naturopathic physicians always seek to find the root cause of a person’s concerns. In many cases this turns out to be an emotional event or state that never completely resolved.
There is now a new tool with which to rapidly treat these emotional states. It is a method called the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), developed by Gary Craig www.emofree.com. EFT combines counseling and the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. This very simple technique is spreading rapidly around the world as people discover its benefits.
The core principle of EFT is that all negative emotions are a disturbance of the body’s energy systems.
“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption
in the body’s energy system”

Founder EFT
The energy system refers to the channels or meridians of energy (or qi) of Chinese medicine used in acupuncture. Instead of needles, the significant points are tapped on with the fingers inputting kinetic energy while the person focuses on the problem emotion or feeling. Tapping balances the disturbed energy patterns and brings lasting relief. This breaks the connection between the thought and the feeling so that a disturbing thought no longer elicits an emotional response. For example, the memory of a car accident no longer brings feelings of fear and panic. This can be especially helpful in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
EFT works quickly in the office and can bring permanent relief from troubling emotions. It is a tool people can learn themselves to meet daily challenges.
EFT can also be beneficial in the treatment of pain by similarly focusing on the area of pain or discomfort and tapping the same points. EFT has proven to be helpful for so many conditions, as Gary Craig says, why not "try it on everything"?
